Another fantastic day at DMA2010 comes to a close, and what a day it was! Pre-Conference workshops came to a close after two intensive days, and the Strategic Summit concluded and agreed to reconvene in Boston in 2011. The Master Class opened for a day focused on innovation and the future, a theme that was echoed later in the day with the announcements of the Innovation Awards’ Finalists. Elsewhere, the Online Marketing Summit met and Bonin Bough brought the house down with an outstanding Keynote presentation and Q&A with Carol Krol of Direct Marketing News.
And at 3 P.M. the Exhibit Hall opened and the conference really began. The murmour around the Hall was the sound of contacts being made, meetings being arranged, and deals being done. And tomorrow we start early, so make sure you set your alarms!
The General Session Keynote starts off with new DMA CEO Larry Kimmel, and then brings together Bret Michaels (Celebrity Apprentice Winner, Musician and Actor), Steve Stoute (the man that brought together LeBron and McDonald’s and Beyonce and Samsung), and Scott Donaton (President and CEO of branded entertainment company Ensemble) to talk about the connections between entertainment and marketing.
Now I don’t want to give too much away, but I’ve listened in on some of the calls for this keynote and it’s going to be amazing. AMAZING! But that’s just between me and you.
Also, there will be no singing, just in case Scott Donaton fans were expecting it. But it should be a great session.
After that the Concurrent Sessions begin! We have 9 tracks covering just about every channel and vertical you can imagine (even if, like Han Solo, you can imagine a lot!). Annnnnnnd…. ready for this, take a deep breath….. there’s….. Nonprofit day, Ask-the-Experts roundtables, DMA en Español, Ask-the-Advocacy Expert, a Networking Lunch, the Thought Leadership Series begins, the Exhibit Hall is open all day, there are Council events, the Global Leaders’ Forum, Passport to Prizes, B2B Intensives AND the Web Usability Labs…. Phew! That’s a lot of stuff to get your head round. May I draw your attention to the Show Directory, MyDMA2010, and the new digital version of our Show Directory on the homepage of our show site to help you get organized?!
Today was a big day, tomorrow is even bigger! The Pre-Conference is dead! Long Live the Conference!
